I love you Mel! and I've been told I use that word too much too. I don't care. It spills out of my mouth like drool out of my dog's mouth when I'm eating peanuts in front of her. the world doesn't hear the word enough, so I do my tiny part to compensate for that.
“…oh, baby don’t hurt, don’t hurt me no more…” Somebody had to say it.
Dorkiness aside, this is a compelling affirmation of love as both a choice and a birthright. I admire the clarity, boundaries, and strength with which you love in a world that sometimes confuses love with control. Your words demonstrate that love does not shrink when given but expands. Really enjoyed this.
I've been known to lament English's lack of different words for different loves. But the more loves I've had in my life, the more I've wondered if maybe that's not such a bad thing after all. Given a limited set of categories, we tend to categorize everything -- and thus to limit everything. The reality is, every love is unique.

Yay! This is part of our connection for sure. :)
I love you!
I love you too, my friend! ❤️💕
Really, how wonderful to read the Greek versions of love and still be left wanting for a bigger definition...if love can really be defined at all!
Mel, I felt every word when you described the love for your son Ethan. I felt that cracking open of my heart, too, with each of my five kids' births.
It must be amazing to experience that 5 times!
In English, we don’t have many words that truly capture what love is.
But in other ancient languages- like Sanskrit, which I know a bit of there are so many different words to describe different kinds of love.
Everyone experiences love differently, and its meaning can vary from person to person. That’s what I believe.
I actually wrote a short piece on this topic a few months ago. You can check it out if you’d like to read it.
I'd love to read it! Send me a link. :)

Whoa! Mind blown! Thanks for the perspective. And Tim, you know I love you.
I love you too!
